Project REACH (Research + Education + Academics + Catholicism + Hope)
As part of their graduation requirement, students develop a topic and research process for a full-year multi-disciplinary research project, in collaboration with St. Joseph’s College. Students work with mentors—accomplished professionals in their field of interest—-to develop a research design and process. This comprehensive process begins in the Fall of 7th grade. Students present their findings at an academic symposium in the Spring of 8th grade.
Prayer & Worship
Students begin the school year with a retreat at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island where they set aside time for prayer, community, and goal setting. Each incoming 6th-grade class picks a patron saint to accompany them throughout their time in The Mission. The Mission attends mass once a week, in addition to the monthly school-wide liturgies. Throughout the year students are exposed to different types of prayer. The year ends with an 8th Grade Graduation Retreat and Days of Reflection for 6th and 7th Grades.
Service Experiences
Each month of the academic year is dedicated to engaging the students in one of the many aspects of the Missionary Life of the Church. Students embark on off-site “Mission Trips”, attend talks from leaders in different areas of ministry, take leadership initiative in fundraising events, and connect with local parish ministries.
