"Called to be a Family of Families"
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to Mission Science! This is going to be an exciting year filled with wonder and discovery. I am delighted to be on this scientific journey with you as we delve deeper into forces and motion, photosynthesis, nutrition and digestion, genetics, evolution, cells and body systems, and many more topics. This will be the time for hands-on investigation and collaborative learning. For my students that are unsure about what the highlighted words mean, I challenge you to look them up. That is all a part of the discovery.
I came to OLQA last year as a part of the elementary team. I had never been to a warmer, more inviting school in my career. After a summer of hope and lots of prayer, I am able to return as the Mission Science teacher. I have been teaching for over 12 years in both general and special education classrooms. My style of teaching is through hands-on, group learning, a great course of action for a science classroom.
The Google Classroom is our communication hub. All homework, announcements, and messages will be posted here. The best practice is to check it daily. Extra help is every Monday after school from 2:30 to 3:30 for 8th grade and Wednesday after school from 2:30 -3:30 for 6th and 7th grades. Please be sure to email me before school begins and put it in Pickup Patrol if your child will be attending. Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email at dopiela5585@olqa.org.
This is going to be an amazing year! I am glad we are on this journey together.
How does a scientist freshen her breath?
